Требования к поступающим на программу обучения "Экономика (Магистратура)"
The basic entry requirement for the Master Program in Economics is the completion of the Bachelor’s Program in Economics at LMU Munich with at least the grade 2.0.
The following exceptions are possible:
- Applicants who completed their studies in Economics at LMU with a grade worse than 2.0 but at least 2.5 will be invited for taking a written test.
- Applicants who have graduated in Economics at another university can be admitted into the Master Program as long as it can be established that this qualification, in terms of content and method, is equivalent to the Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the LMU with at least the grade 2.0. A selection committee decides whether your qualification can be recognised as being equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Economics at LMU Munich on the basis of the documents you have provided with your application.

A selection committee decides whether your qualification can be recognised as being equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Economics at LMU Munich on the basis of the documents you have provided with your application.
- If the equivalence is unclear but the selection committee does regard the qualification or the subject of study, in terms of content and methods, as sufficiently close to Economics, and an applicant completed his/her studies with a grade at least 2.5 the applicant will be invited for taking a written test.
In addition to their qualification in Economics applicants must be able to prove they have sufficient command of the English language (refer to the list of Evidence).
Prerequisites
Admission to the Master Program in Economics is determined by a selection procedure that assesses a student’s suitability for the program. This procedure establishes whether applicants who have obtained their Bachelor’s qualification in Economics (or in a subject that is similar in terms of content and methodology) at universities other than LMU are able to fulfil the particular requirements for participation in the Master program.
Requirements include a good understanding of the subjects and methods covered in a Bachelor’s Program in Economics, particularly in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Empirical Economics.
To gain an idea of the expected requirements in economics for the Master Program, you should compare your course studies with our B.Sc. Program and our B.Sc. Examination Regulations in German (Prüfungsordnung PO 2013). A compilation of information about the compulsory courses in Economics is compiled in a excerpt [pdf, 134 kB] of our official course catalogue.
In addition to their qualification in Economics applicants must be able to prove they have sufficient command of the English language (refer to the list of Evidence).
Test of admission
Those candidates whose grade is worse than 2.0 but at least 2.5 OR for whom the equivalence of their qualification cannot be unambiguously established, but whose qualification is assessed to have sufficient proximity to Economics in terms of content and methods (and whose grade is at least 2.5) will be invited to take a written test of admission. These selected applicants will get an invitation by email at least two weeks before the date of the test.
The test of admission for winter term 2018/2019 will take place on June 9th, 2018 and is only offered in Munich. The exact time and place will be announced in the invitation to the test.
